Ajay Singh Bisht was just 22 when he decided to become a monk. He shaved his head, got his ear split, donned the saffron rob and took a new name – Yogi Adityanath. This biography tracks the journey of the Yogi’s life from there to the day of his coronation as the CM of Uttar Pradesh and flag-bearer of RSS’s Hindutva agenda, documenting alongside the interesting history of Gorakhsnath order, its role and relevance in today’s political climate. The book is all this, and also an insightful and objective appraisal of Yogi’s anniversary in governance of India’s largest state with a vote back which is as mixed as it is politically aware.
